Robert Louis Emmons

 

[b 16 Apr. 1923 at Kalamazoo, MI; d 23 Feb. 1982 at Kalamazoo, MI] Robert Louis Emmons was the son of Herman L. Emmons and Elwelda Ethel Seybert. Robert enlisted in the U.S. Army on 19 Jan. 1943; the terms of his enlistment were for the duration of WWII plus six months. He also served in the Korean War.

On 13 Mar. 1948, Robert m Geraldine Mae Gibbs [b 6 May 1929 at Kalamazoo, MI; d 16 Aug. 1962]. Geraldine was the daughter of Claire Gibbs [1904–1985] and Lucille Green [1910–1988], who were married 22 Sept. 1928 in South Bend, IN; she was the first of seven children. Her siblings included Joan (“Joanne”) [1931–2017] who m Donald Knauss, and Caroline [1938–2016] who m Gerald Knauss. The Gibbses were farmers in Scotts, MI.

Geraldine M. Emmons

Mrs. Geraldine M. Emmons, 213 W. Belmont, passed away Thursday evening at Bronson Hospital after a brief illness. Mrs. Emmons was born May 6, 1929 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Claire Gibbs and Lucille Green Gibbs. She was married to Robert Emmons March 13, 1948 in Kalamazoo, who survives. Surviving besides the husband are two daughters, Linda and Gerri; one son Thomas; her parents Mr. and Mrs. Claire Gibbs of Scotts; three brothers, Claire of Kalamazoo, Dick and David of Scotts; three sisters, Miss Ruth Gibbs of Scotts, Mrs. Joann Knauss of Constantine and Mrs. Caroline Knauss of Fenton, Mich. Friends are being received at Joldersma and Klein Funeral Home where services will be held Monday afternoon. Time of services will be announced later. Interment in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park.

Robert L. Emmons

Mr. Robert L. Emmons, 4220 Leisure Lane, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1982 at his residence. Mr. Emmons was born in Kalamazoo, April 16, 1923, son of Hermon and Ethel Metty Emmons. On March 13, 1948, he married Geraldine Gibbs, who passed away Aug. 16, 1962. He was also preceded in death by his father, Hermon, Feb. 6. 1977. Surviving are his son, Thomas Emmons; 2 daughters, Linda Emmons and Mrs. Gerri Fenner; 3 grandchildren, his mother, Mrs. Donald (Ethel) Snow; his brother, Donald Emmons; his sister, Mrs. George (Mary) Vose, all of Kalamazoo; 2 nieces in Lansing.

Friends are being received at the funeral home, where services will be held Friday afternoon at 1 o’clock with Rev. James Cascerelle, of First Baptist Church of Portage, officiating. Interment, Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Contributions in his memory may be made to the TB and Emphysema Assoc. of Kalamazoo County. Linda M. Emmons

Linda M. Emmons, Portage, age 72, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2020. Linda was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on September 18, 1948, the daughter of the late Robert and Geraldine (Gibbs) Emmons. She is survived by her sister, Gerri (Richard) Fenner; brother, Thomas Emmons; several nieces and nephews; beloved cat, Gabby and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Besides her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her grandparents. She was a devoted Green Bay Packers Fan and animal lover. Linda retired after many years of employment from Western Michigan University's custodial department. In accordance with her wish, cremation will take place and no service will be held. Private interment will take place at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park – South. Linda was able to make a lasting gift to society by donating to Gift of Life of Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kalamazoo Humane Society or SPCA of Southwest Michigan.
