[b 2 Oct. 1742 in Cranston, RI; d 25 June 1796 in Hopkinton, RI] John Fenner m Lydia Carpenter [b 1752; d 5 Sept. 1840 at Hopkinton, RI], daughter of Hezekiah Carpenter and Phebe Bowen. John was a captain in his brother Arthur Fenner’s Company.

2. Martha Benns, Notes on the Fenner Family of R.I. (1941), p. 12. Martha notes that John died in 1796 in his 34th yr, making his birth ca. 1763. This must be an error, plus Martha might have confused this John with one who married Amey Downing c. 1760, also born in Cranston but died in Herkimer County, NY. This problem was noted and corrected based on census records by Richard Arthur Fenner in an email to Chris Fenner, 20 Jan. 2011.
